Beijing: Mooncakes and red wine are sold separately

In order to understand the packaging of moon cakes sold in high-end hotels, a reporter from China Consumer News recently made unannounced visits to five five-star hotels around Beijing's Bird's Nest.

Most mooncakes are sold in compliance

On August 17th, the reporter came to the Marco Polo Hotel in Beijing Zhongao, located in the core area of Beijing Yaao. There was a mooncake called "Bird Moon Gift Box" on sale. Eight mooncakes with different flavors were stuffed into the paper gift box. Full to the brim, the price is 188 yuan.

The reporter asked if there were more expensive products.

The service staff of the hotel lobby lounge said that this year, the state has new regulations on moon cakes, and the hotel did not introduce higher-priced moon cake gift boxes.

Later, the reporter came to the Beijing Celebrity International Hotel not far away.

A "Haoyue Gift Box" is placed in the lobby of the hotel, priced at 268 yuan.

The gift box is divided into two layers, both of which are paper packaging, and each layer contains 4 moon cakes.

The hotel staff told reporters that in addition to the gift box on display, the hotel also provides "Auspicious Moon Gift Box" and "Ruiyue Gift Box", which are priced at 218 yuan and 288 yuan respectively. The packaging is similar, but the taste and weight of moon cakes are slightly different. There are different.

The Beijing Beichen Wuzhou Crown International Hotel, which is just east of the Bird's Nest, also has 3 products on sale. The most expensive gift box is priced at 298 yuan. It is divided into 3 layers. The top layer is a large moon cake of 500 grams. .

In the lobby of the InterContinental Beijing Beichen Hotel on the west side of the Bird's Nest, only 2 products were displayed, both of which were packaged in paper with no more than 3 layers, and the prices were 198 yuan and 268 yuan respectively.

At the National Convention Center Hotel in the north of the Bird's Nest, the reporter did not see any moon cakes for sale.

Some gift boxes contain individual packaging

The No. 1 Amendment Sheet of the National Standard "Restriction of Excessive Packaging of Commodities for Food and Cosmetics" not only stipulates the packaging of moon cakes, but also requires that moon cakes should not be mixed with other commodities.

During the unannounced visit, the reporter did not see any other goods mixed in the mooncake gift box.

However, some hotels have made small calculations in this regard.

On the mooncake promotion page of Beijing Beichen Wuzhou Crown International Hotel, there is also an activity where you can add 99 yuan to buy a red wine gift box (1 bottle) worth 188 yuan.

The staff at the Palm Court lobby bar on the first floor of the hotel told reporters that this year, the state requires that moon cakes cannot be mixed or sold together. The hotel strictly follows the standard.

Only two mooncake gift boxes, Liyue and Zhenyue, are placed in the lobby of InterContinental Beijing Beichen.

After scanning the QR code on the hotel's mooncake flyer, the reporter saw that the hotel also has carefully customized upgraded versions of "Liyue" and "Zhenyue" mooncake red wine gift boxes, priced at 298 yuan and 368 yuan respectively.

The staff of the hotel's Chinese restaurant told the "China Consumer News" reporter that in addition to red wine, these two gift boxes also contain moon cakes. For example, the "Zhen Yue" moon cake red wine gift box of 368 yuan contains a box of 268 yuan moon cake and a bottle of red wine. .

"We strictly abide by the relevant state regulations, the red wine is individually packaged, not mixed." The staff member said.

Xi'an: Add money to buy "mixed" gift boxes

On August 15, the National Standard No. 1 Amendment (hereinafter referred to as the new national standard) of the national standard "Restriction of Excessive Packaging Requirements for Food and Cosmetics" jointly issued by the State Administration for Market Regulation and other departments was officially implemented.

On August 16, the Shaanxi Provincial Market Supervision Bureau issued a series of "Reminders and Warnings to Mooncake Manufacturers" and "Reminders and Warnings to Curb "High-Price" Mooncakes and Standardize Market Order", issuing reminders and warnings to relevant production enterprises and business entities.

How is the implementation of the new national standard?

Recently, a reporter from China Consumer News went to seven five-star hotels in Xi'an, Shaanxi Province to find out.

Assorted mooncakes are still on sale

On the afternoon of August 17, a corner of the lobby on the first floor of Shangri-La Hotel, Xi'an, Keji Road, Xi'an.

There are huge moon cake posters hanging on the walls of the lobby, and the moon cake booths are arranged in an L shape under the posters.

Various styles of mooncake packaging boxes are eye-catching. The reporter saw "relatively low-priced" mooncake gift boxes such as the 200-yuan Shangri-La full moon gift box and the 238-yuan Shangri-la new moon gift box, as well as the 498-yuan classic double-yellow lotus seed mooncake gift box, 498 yuan Moon Watching Collection offers "relatively expensive" mooncake gift boxes such as limited mooncake suitcases.

Following the judgment method of "one look, two questions, and three calculations", the reporter observed on the spot that the material, number of layers and clearance ratio of the moon cake packaging gift box on one side of the booth all met the requirements of the new national standard, and there was no case of mixed sales with other products. .

On the other side of the booth, there are non-moon cake gift boxes: 398 yuan shallow cup tea gift box, including 1 set of selected tea sets, Shangri-La's selected famous tea gift box 2 grams in 15 packs; 698 yuan good season gift box, including selected 1 set of tea set, 1 can of Shangri-La Xiaoqingguang Pu’er tea 60g, 1 bottle of Le Shito Cabernet Sauvignon 750ml; 1188 yuan full glass gift box, including 1 set of selected tea set, 1 set of selected wine set, Lanxiang Chenyun Tieguanyin Tea 80g in 1 can, and fragrant sauce-flavor liquor 500ml in 1 bottle.

The staff told the "China Consumer News" reporter that these gift boxes can be matched with a box of 12 moon cakes with only an additional 100 yuan.

"After adding 100 yuan, can a mooncake box be placed in the gift box?" the reporter asked.

"Of course, there is a place for moon cakes in the gift box." The staff replied.

At the request of the reporter, the staff brought a 1188 yuan full glass of wine gift box from elsewhere, opened the lid of the big gift box, and the packaging was divided into three layers.

The first layer is a 500ml bottle of Shangri-La Hotel's customized fragrant sauce-flavored liquor, 4 wine glasses and 1 wine dispenser; the second layer is a 12-piece moon cake gift box; the third layer is a teapot, 3 1 teacup, 1 tea clip, 1 box of Tieguanyin tea.

The size and height of the 3-layer packaging fit perfectly with the outermost gift box.

The new national standard clearly stipulates that "moon cakes should not be mixed with other commodities", and this 1188 yuan full glass of wine gift box did not comply with the standard.

On August 19, the reporter contacted the staff again and learned that this 1188 yuan full glass of wine gift box has been sold out.

However, the staff member suggested that the reporter can consider the 398 yuan Shangri-La shallow cup tea gift box and the 698 yuan Shangri-La good season gift box. As long as you add 100 yuan, you can also put the moon cake box into these two gift boxes. "There is reserved for moon cakes. The place".

On the afternoon of August 17, at the moon cake booth on the first floor of Crowne Plaza Xi'an, Zhuque Road, Xi'an, the reporter saw that there were two types of moon cake packaging boxes displayed on the booth.

Next to the booth stood the hotel's Mid-Autumn Mooncake poster, which showed that the "green" mooncake gift box was 228 yuan, 8 pieces; the "Shanshui" mooncake gift box was 268 yuan, 8 pieces; the "Tongyou" mooncake gift box was 298 yuan, 6 pieces; "The mooncake gift box is 488 yuan, in addition to 8 pieces of mooncakes, there are 2 bottles of 750ml Portia dry red wine.

On the afternoon of August 19, the reporter got in touch with the hotel's moon cake sales department based on the phone information reserved on the moon cake poster.

The staff told reporters that the 488 yuan "Danqing" model comes with a mooncake gift box and 2 bottles of red wine. The two items are individually packaged and placed in the same bag together.

"There is no physical picture of the red wine packaging." The staff replied to the reporter and took the initiative to recommend another 268 yuan mooncake gift box, because "more people buy this mooncake gift box".
