Explore flexible employment for maternity insurance

  According to national regulations, maternity insurance covers employers and their on-the-job employees in accordance with the law. The employer pays the fee, and the individual does not pay. The employees of the unit enjoy two benefits: maternity medical expenses and maternity allowances.

  According to data from the National Medical Insurance Administration, the number of people participating in maternity insurance in 2021 will reach 240 million, 1.5 times that of 2012.

  The National Medical Insurance Bureau said that local governments have also carried out certain practical explorations, including flexible employment into the coverage of maternity insurance, participating in maternity insurance at the same time as participating in employee medical insurance, and enjoying maternity allowances, and the practice has achieved good results.

  Zhongxin Finance has noticed that recently, Zhejiang has made it clear that from July 1, self-employed individuals, part-time employees and other flexible employees who participate in the basic medical insurance for employees in Zhejiang will participate in the maternity insurance at the same time. When giving birth, they can enjoy the same standard of medical expenses reimbursement and maternity allowance as other insured employees.

  Feng Wenmeng pointed out that by using the funds of the unemployment insurance fund to pay employee medical insurance premiums and maternity insurance premiums for those receiving unemployment benefits, it also reduces the worries for these unemployed people to see a doctor and give birth.

At present, the accumulated balance of the unemployment insurance fund is quite large, which can play a greater role.
