A Turkish delegation was visiting Washington on Monday.

Negotiations for the delivery of F-16 fighter jets continue to crystallize tensions between Turkey and the United States.

But if the dialogue between Ankara and its Western allies suffers from deep differences on many issues, in recent months, Turkey is redeploying in all directions in its regional environment.

Israel, Syria… Turkey is trying to move forward on regional issues

In particular, it has resumed dialogue with the major countries of the Middle East, such as Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Egypt.

It has maintained a mediating position between Russia and Ukraine since the start of the Russian offensive in February.

And this week, Turkish diplomacy is also making notable progress, such as

the resumption of relations with Israel

More unexpected, finally, are the repeated declarations of the Minister of Foreign Affairs on Syria in favor of a reconciliation between the insurgents and the Damascus regime.

For many observers, it is the country's sluggish economy that is at the origin of this strategic reorientation.

Less than a year from the legislative and presidential elections, the serious economic crisis that is shaking the country could indeed cause the loss of the government of Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
