Last month, more than 140,000 foreign tourists visited Japan, surpassing 100,000 for the fourth consecutive month.

However, the number of tourists, two months after resuming acceptance, is still at a low level.

According to the Japan National Tourism Organization, an estimated 144,500 foreign tourists visited Japan last month, surpassing 100,000 for the fourth consecutive month.

By country,

Vietnam had the highest number of victims with 22,700

, followed by

South Korea with

20,400, China with

14,800, and the United States with 14,100.

The main reason is that the number of foreigners visiting Japan for "short-term stays" such as business and visiting relatives has increased, against the background of the gradual relaxation of measures at the border of the new corona.

However, tourists, who accounted for the majority of foreign tourists, have resumed acceptance, and two months have passed, but the level remains significantly lower than before the spread of infection.

According to the Japan Tourism Agency's summary, the number of foreign tourists who applied to enter the country for tourism purposes was more than 7,400 from the 12th to the 31st of this month, and more than 4,700 from the 1st to the 30th of next month. The issue continues to be how to proceed with the acceptance of foreign tourists while being thorough.
