It has been 10 weeks since the price of diesel became more expensive than gasoline.

The price difference continues to widen, and diesel is now about 100 won more expensive.

International oil prices are falling, but reporter Jeong Hye-jin found out how long the economic price will keep going so high.

Mr. Yoon Seong-seok, who drives a van for work, is a heavy burden due to the skyrocketing expenses.

He searched and found a cheap gas station, but here too, diesel is 100 won more expensive than gasoline.

[Yoon Seong-seok / Yangcheon-gu, Seoul: (via in the past) If I put 50,000 won, I ran 350 km.

Now I can't even run 250km.

To get to Busan, you have to put in twice, but sometimes it's 100,000 won.] The

price reversal of diesel, which is more expensive than gasoline, has been going on for the 10th week since the third week of June.

As of yesterday (17th) afternoon, diesel was 98.9 won higher than gasoline nationwide.

In Korea, diesel was considered a fuel for the common people due to its relatively low price.

However, on the international market, diesel is more expensive or similar to gasoline.

This is because diesel fuel has good fuel efficiency and can produce great power, so it is widely used not only for automobiles but also for industrial purposes.

However, after the Ukrainian war, a shortage of diesel fuel has appeared, and international economic prices have not fallen.

Although the oil tax is being reduced due to the soaring oil price, the effect of tax cut is rather small for diesel because the tax on gasoline is higher.

As winter approaches, the demand for diesel fuel will increase and the price gap is expected to widen.

[Cho Sang-beom/Director of External Relations, Korea Petroleum Association: As the winter season approaches, the gas from Russia to Europe may be reduced or the price of diesel supply itself may increase, so it is not expected to be easily narrowed (the gap between diesel and gasoline prices). It

seems difficult to expect the economic price to decline until next spring, when the demand for heating decreases
