Dubai Customs achieved a strong growth in total insurance recovery claims by 37%, reaching a value of 3.7 billion dirhams during the first half of this year, compared to the same period last year.

The department said in a statement yesterday that the "smart reinsurance" system, which was devised by Dubai Customs, to enable customers to submit claims around the clock, seven days a week, succeeded in achieving an increase in insurance recovery claims completed by the department during the first half of 2022 by a percentage. 17.4%, bringing the number to 559 thousand claims, compared to 476 thousand claims in the same period in 2021.

The "smart reinsurance" system supports the ability of customers to save time and effort, and reduces costs for companies, as well as enhances Dubai Customs' ability to calculate refunded insurances in a simpler and more accurate way.

The system reduces in an unprecedented way the period required for reinsurance by relying on advanced technologies and continuous improvements.

The facilities provided by Dubai Customs to customers in terms of insurance recovery claims keep pace with the development achieved in the field of claims through clearing (automated direct transfer) between the countries of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, which numbered in the first half of this year about 33,000 claims for recovery with a value of transferred customs fees amounting to 224 million dirhams.

The direct automatic transfer of customs duties system is one of the most important tools that contribute to enhancing Gulf customs cooperation by shortening the time of customs duties transfers.

The Executive Director of the Customer Management Sector (acting), Yousef Al Hashemi, said that "the strong growth recorded in the value of customs insurance during the first half of 2022 is one of the important indicators of the extent of the recovery of trade in Dubai and the emirate's active contribution to the recovery of the commercial sector at the international level." .

smart system

The "Smart Reinsurance System" developed by Dubai Customs is the first of its kind in the world, and represents a sophisticated technical innovation that can handle more than two million requests annually.

The system supports the achievement of many benefits for customers, as the customer can submit a refund claim transaction electronically at any time and from anywhere.
