In Iran, the trial of Mostafa Tajzadeh, a famous reform leader detained since July for undermining state security, opened before the revolutionary court in Tehran on August 14.

Former deputy minister of the interior under the presidency of Mohammad Khatami, Mostapha Tadjzadeh has multiplied his criticisms against the government in recent months, including against the supreme guide, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, reports our correspondent in Tehran,

Aged 65, he was arrested at his home on July 8.

He is notably accused of propaganda against the regime and conspiracy against national security.

He refused to answer the presiding judge's questions.

He is part of the radical wing of the reform movement which has increasingly distanced itself from power.

Mostafa Tadjzadeh has already spent several years in prison.

Arrested in 2009 after the disputed victory of former conservative President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, he was released in 2016.

Since then, he had repeatedly called for the release of the leaders of

, who have been under house arrest for more than twelve years.

This trial comes as arrests have multiplied lately among political activists, but also filmmakers like Jafar Panahi or Mohammad Rasoulof.
