While INSEE has confirmed an acceleration in inflation which reached 6.1% in July over one year, food products are not the only ones to be affected by a price increase.

Due to various issues, including global shipping and the war in Ukraine, other prices are also on the rise.

The price hike is not just about what we put in our shopping carts.

This week, INSEE confirmed its inflation forecast at 6.1% over one year in July.

This indeed concerns food, but not only.

Beyond fuel and energy, which products have seen their prices rise the most?

The small household appliances and furniture concerned

First, there are small household appliances, with coffee makers and kettles at the very top of the ranking.

Their average price increased by just over 17%, followed by toasters which are now almost 14% more expensive than a year ago.

To give you an idea, a toaster from a fairly well-known brand cost €28 last summer.

Today, the brand sells it at 35 €.

A meteoric rise that INSEE justifies by the disorganization of maritime transport on a global scale, the rise in production costs but also the shortage of electronic components.

On the furniture side too, prices have risen sharply.

To develop your garden, for example, it will cost on average 12% more than at the beginning of the year.

It is above all the war in Ukraine which is responsible for these increases, with the surge in the price of raw materials in particular.

For the rest, in short, stationery took 10%.

Products for your pets 8%.

And the paper press almost 6%.

Only two sectors have not been affected by inflation, since they are state-regulated markets: health and tobacco.
