Egypt develops 15 commercial ports on the Red and Mediterranean Seas

Egypt announced the development of 15 commercial ports on the Red and Mediterranean Seas, in addition to the Suez Canal.


The Egyptian Minister of Transport, Lieutenant-General Kamel Al-Wazir, said that these ports will be developed at the same time, and the rest of the ports will be completed later, hoping that the Egyptian ports will reach the ranks of international ports, which will reflect positively on the Egyptian economy.

The initial signing took place for the two projects: (construction of the superstructure, management, operation, exploitation, maintenance and re-delivery of a container terminal in Sokhna port), and (construction of the superstructure, management, operation, exploitation, maintenance and re-delivery of the container terminal at berth 100 in Dekheila).


In a press conference held today, the minister said, "We had to take advantage of this unique location and make the most of the Egyptian ports after developing and rehabilitating them by establishing berths and stations with great depths that allow the trample and entry of ships with the largest loads, in addition to linking these ports to each other with modern and fast means of communication, In this regard, we are now implementing the fast electric train through Siemens and an alliance of Egyptian companies


, he added, adding that the fast train will connect the port of Sokhna on the Red Sea and the ports of Alexandria and Dekheila until Matrouh

He said, "Through cooperation with the General Authority for the Economic Zone of the Suez Canal and the Alexandria Port Authority, through dry ports and logistics areas and through the express train, we can establish the Sokhna / Dekheila logistic hub."
