The energy group RWE has announced that it intends not to claim its losses from the increased prices due to the gas surcharge.

What sounds charitable is basically a matter of course for a company that benefits from the enormously increased prices in electricity generation.

Even if the company is of course entitled to fall back on it - and incidentally some investors could also rightly demand it - the decision of the Management Board shows tact.

It would be difficult to explain why a company that raises its profit forecast so sharply should also benefit from the surcharge.

After all, this is intended for companies that are in trouble and RWE is really more than solid.

At the same time, you don't have to demonize the Dax group, it doesn't just hold out your hand, but also invests heavily.

And above all in green energy.

Even if the coal-fired power plants are to run longer for the time being, this short-term security of supply should not be confused with the long-term vision.

It's going in the right direction - but it also needs money for it.
