As the expert recalled, the Druzhba oil pipeline has two lines.
“The northern one goes through Belarus to Poland and Germany, the southern one goes to Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic through Ukraine.
In any case, this means that the volume of oil supplied by Russia to these markets may be reduced, ”the analyst emphasized.
According to him, it was assumed that oil through pipes should not fall under large-scale sanctions in Europe.
“Because oil refineries that are “sitting” on the pipe are difficult to reorient to something else,” Mitrahovich said.
The specialist admitted the possibility that a compromise would be found on this issue.
“Since there is not enough gas in Europe, and coal is expensive, and the additional stress from oil supplies complicates the situation,” the RT interlocutor concluded.
Earlier, Dyomin said that Ukrtransnafta had stopped pumping oil through the southern branch of the Druzhba oil pipeline system to Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
According to him, the stop is due to the fact that the Russian side cannot make a payment for transit under the EU sanctions.
At the same time, the transit of oil along the northern branch of the Druzhba oil pipeline in the direction of Germany and Poland is proceeding normally.
