In Hong Kong, where the popularity of Japanese sake is growing, an event was held to introduce Japanese sake from Kochi Prefecture made with yeast that was transported to outer space.

This event was held on the 7th by a restaurant in Hong Kong and a sake brewery association in Kochi Prefecture to let people in Hong Kong know about unique sake.

At the venue, sake made with yeast that was laid in the deep sea at a depth of about 6200 meters after being carried into space by the Russian spacecraft "Soyuz" in 2005 was prepared.

The sake was named "Tosa Space Deep Sea Sake", and the participants thoroughly enjoyed the different tastes and aromas of each sake.

From Kochi Prefecture, representatives of five sake breweries participated online and explained the characteristics of sake, and questions were asked one after another from the venue, such as "What kind of difficulties did you have by using special yeast?" It was up.

Participants said, "The taste and texture are special, and it's different from the sake I usually drink. I was able to deepen my understanding by listening to the stories of the sake brewers that I don't usually get to hear." Now that I have a better understanding of Kochi, I would like to visit again.”

In Hong Kong, the popularity of Japanese sake has increased in recent years, and the export value from Japan last year was over 9.3 billion yen, an increase of about 50% compared to the previous year.

The Hong Kong restaurant manager who planned this event said, "The Hong Kong market has a high capacity to accept new things. I want to spread the fact that there are various types of sake."
