Prices have been falling since the beginning of July, when they reached more than 2 euros per litre.

Oil prices, which had jumped following the invasion of Ukraine by Russia, have indeed calmed down recently.

The move is fueled by fears over the level of demand due to the bleak outlook for the global economy.

The TotalEnergies group has announced a discount of 20 euro cents at the pump between September and November in all its French service stations, then 10 cents per liter for the rest of the year.
