The Renfe discount tickets approved by the Government on August 1 can begin to be requested from the 8th, next Monday,

through a registry that Renfe will enable on its website

.

Users of Cercanías, Media Distancia and Avant will have to register first to then purchase their multi-trip tickets as of August 24.

The objective, they explain from Renfe, is that users can anticipate and purchase their vouchers in advance and thus avoid that on September 1, which is when they can start to be used, there are no collapses.

They will be valid until December 31.

At the time of its acquisition (from the 24th),

the user will have to pay a deposit

of between 10 and 20 euros, depending on the route, and which will be returned at the end of the subscription period, on the 31st. from December.

This deposit will be paid by credit card, thus facilitating the return, although it can also be paid in cash.

In this case, the refund will be made at the box office.

The registration of users by Renfe will facilitate these processes.

The subscriptions will be for

Cercanías, Media Distancia and Avant

(in medium-distance trains that run on high-speed rail), in the latter case they will not be free, but will have a 50% discount.

A card will be sold for each route and the user will not have to pay anything, as long as they make a minimum of 16 trips.

Normal passes will not be sold during this period, but individual tickets will be.

Bail bonds

In the case of the

Cercanías or Rodalies

network , the user

will have to pay 10 euros as a deposit

(the approximate cost of three individual tickets), and at the end of the period, if they have made more than 16 trips (four per month) the 10 euros will be returned to you.

The voucher will only be valid for one area (Madrid, Barcelona or Valencia).

For

conventional

medium-distance routes ,

the deposit will be 20 euros

and will be returned under the same conditions.

It will be applied in the corridors Barcelona Sans-Girona-Cerbere, Coruña-Santiago-Vigo, Seville-Cádiz, Seville-Córdoba-Jaén, Valencia-Vinaroz-Tortosa, Valencia-Alicante-Murcia, Madrid-Valladolid-Vitoria, Salamanca-Madrid and Madrid-Jaen.

It does not apply to those medium-distance trains that run on high-speed rail.

In the latter case, and on routes where the travel time is less than 100 minutes and where there is no Public Service Obligation (OSP), the discount will be 50%, which will be applied to

existing

season tickets

during the cited period.

Passes will be applied on the

Madrid-Palencia, Madrid-Zamora, León-Valladolid, Burgos-Madrid, León-Palencia, Burgos-Valladolid, Ourense-Zamora, Palencia-Valladolid, Huesca-Zaragoza, León-Segovia, Segovia-Zamora lines.

, Palencia-Segovia and Medina del Campo-Zamora.

The Government approved these discounts last Monday within a package of measures to alleviate the impact of the rise in energy prices.

These free passes, which are aimed at people who regularly use public transport, such as

workers or students,

aim to promote this type of less polluting transport.
