Data issued by the Department of Economy and Tourism in Dubai revealed that the total number of new hotel rooms that have been opened in Dubai since the start of the Corona Virus (Covid-19) pandemic, has reached about 13,000 new hotel rooms.

According to the data that Emirates Today obtained a copy of, the number of hotel rooms in Dubai increased from 127.8 thousand hotel rooms at the end of February 2020, to 140.7 thousand hotel rooms at the end of May 2022, while the number of hotel establishments increased from 745 hotel facilities at the end of February 2020 to 772 facilities at the end of May 2022.

At the end of May 2022, luxury five-star hotel rooms accounted for 34% of the total hotel market in Dubai, registering more than 48,3,000 hotel rooms within 148 hotel establishments, followed by four-star hotel rooms with 29 %, registering 40.5 thousand hotel rooms within 181 hotel establishments.

For its part, hotels classified between “three stars” and “one star” accounted for about 19% of the total hotel market size, with a capacity of more than 26.2 thousand hotel rooms within 252 hotel facilities.

In addition, the number of hotel apartments exceeded a total of 25.6 thousand apartments within 191 facilities, acquiring 18% of the hotel market.

The Department of Economy and Tourism in Dubai revealed that the tourism sector in the emirate has continued its strong performance since the beginning of this year 2022, with continued growth, achieving very positive results during the period from January to May 2022, during which Dubai received more than 6.17 million international visitors, an increase of 197. % compared to the same period last year, which recorded more than two million visitors.

Statistics issued by the "Economy and Tourism" show that Dubai hotels maintain, in general, an average occupancy level of 76% for the first five months of this year.
