As the strike continued for the fifth month at some factories related to the transportation of Hite Jinro liquor, today (4th) union members jumped into the river in front of the Hongcheon factory in Gangwon-do and were rescued.

We connect reporters who are out on the scene.

Reporter Jeon Yeon-nam, first of all, let me tell you what happened today.

<Reporter>

Yes, the place I am in is Hite Bridge, the only bridge that can go to and from the Hite Jinro Beer Factory in Hongcheon, Gangwon-do.

Since then, the union members have parked the trucks like this in the first lane of these two lanes as you can see behind me.

In the remaining 1st lane, union members directly took over and prevented beer from being shipped.

However, this happened around 11 am today when the police intervened, saying they would make a way on this bridge.

The union members, who were tied to the railing above the bridge, jumped into the river 14 meters below.

The union said that a total of three people fell, but the 119 rescue team was on standby and rescued all of them right away.

Delivery was successful as the bridge was reopened after that.

But these union members are not the people who work at the Hongcheon factory there.

<Reporter>

Yes, this is a beer factory, and these union members are truck drivers in charge of shipping soju from a soju factory in Icheon, Gyeonggi-do.

Enlarging an image

Since last March, I have been holding a rally in front of the Icheon plant to prevent other vehicles from coming and going.

Recently, the court recognized this as an obstruction of business, and since then, they have moved to this place and have been protesting against the shipment of beer.

It seems that negotiations are not going well when you look at the long and intense strike.

<Reporter>

Yes, the union is insisting on raising the transportation fee by 30% and re-employing all union members.

Also, since the strike started, the company is demanding compensation, saying that the amount of damage has exceeded 500 million won.

The company will not hold you responsible if you return by next Monday.

However, if it takes longer, he said that he would take tough measures such as obstruction of business.

The Cargo Regiment condemned the use of public force, and the police are fighting back to respond in accordance with the law and principles.

The union said it would continue protesting until this weekend.
