  Sales growth turned from negative to positive

  In the first half of the year, the total retail sales of consumer goods was 21,043.2 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 0.7%.

Among them, the retail sales of consumer goods other than automobiles was 18925.1 billion yuan, down 0.1%.

In terms of quarters, the growth rate in the first quarter was 3.3%, and in the second quarter, it decreased by 4.6%.

Sales in both urban and rural markets declined. In the first half of the year, retail sales of consumer goods in urban and rural areas fell by 0.8% and 0.3% respectively.

  In June, the growth rate of market sales turned from negative to positive, reversing the downward trend.

"With the improvement of the national epidemic prevention and control situation, the effect of promoting consumption policies has emerged, and the recovery of the consumer market has accelerated." Dong Lihua said that in June, the total retail sales of social consumer goods was 3,874.2 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 3.1%.

Among them, the retail sales of consumer goods excluding automobiles was 3,419.2 billion yuan, an increase of 1.8%.

The retail sales of urban consumer goods was 3,357.1 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 3.1%; the retail sales of rural consumer goods was 517.1 billion yuan, an increase of 2.7%.

The retail sales of commodities was 3,497.7 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 3.9%.

  The retail sales of automobiles account for about 10% of the total retail sales of social consumer goods. Its long industrial chain, high correlation and strong driving force play an important role in promoting economic development and driving social employment.

Huo Fupeng, deputy director of the Industry Department of the National Development and Reform Commission, introduced that China's auto industry has a good foundation for maintaining steady and rapid growth.

According to the forecast of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, the annual car sales are expected to exceed 27 million, an increase of about 3% year-on-year, of which the sales of new energy vehicles are expected to reach 5.5 million, a record high.

  "The growth rate of retail sales of most commodities picked up in June, catering consumption continued to recover, market sales in some areas improved significantly, physical store operations improved, and the consumer market showed a trend of accelerated recovery." Dong Lihua said.

  Online retail keeps growing

  In the first half of the year, China's online retail market stabilized and rebounded, showing a good recovery momentum.

  The proportion of online consumption continued to increase.

In the first half of the year, the national online retail sales of physical goods increased by 5.6% year-on-year, accounting for 25.9% of the total retail sales of consumer goods, an increase of 1 percentage point from January to May, and the proportion has continued to increase since the beginning of this year.

Among the online retail sales of physical goods, the retail sales of food, clothing and consumer goods increased by 15.7%, 2.4% and 5.1% year-on-year respectively.

The postal express industry, which is closely related to online shopping, has generally maintained growth, with the national postal express business volume exceeding 50 billion in the first half of the year.

  The operating situation of offline retail stores is improving.

In the first half of the year, in the retail sales of physical stores above designated size, the retail sales of supermarkets and specialty stores increased by 4.2% and 2.8% year-on-year respectively, and the growth rate was 0.2 and 1.6 percentage points higher than that of January to May respectively; the retail sales of department stores and specialty stores were year-on-year. They decreased by 8.4% and 4.1% respectively, and the decline rate narrowed by 1.9 and 3.5 percentage points respectively.

  High-quality supply helps to upgrade consumption.

In 2022, China will once again adjust tariffs on 954 imported goods, involving a variety of consumer goods such as food, medical and health care products, and maternal and infant products.

  Consumption promotion policies continue to be effective

  Recently, in order to promote the stabilization of consumption, the state has introduced a number of policies to support it.
