Wang Xudong, deputy director of the Housing Provident Fund Supervision Department of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of China, revealed on the 28th that at present, the actual number of people paying housing provident funds nationwide has reached 164 million.

On the same day, the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development held a press conference, and Wang Xudong made the above statement at the meeting.

In May of this year, the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, together with relevant departments, issued three phased housing provident fund support policies to reduce the pressure on corporate spending, help depositors to tide over difficulties, and increase support for rental housing.

It is understood that as of July 20, a total of 23,000 enterprises and 1.396 million employees have been supported nationwide to defer payment of 7.11 billion yuan (RMB, the same below) to the housing provident fund; 128,000 individual housing loans that were affected by the epidemic and could not be repaid normally No overdue treatment will be made, involving a loan balance of 36.98 billion yuan; 1.806 million employees are supported to increase the rent withdrawal quota, and 8.85 billion yuan of housing provident fund has been withdrawn.

Wang Xudong revealed that at present, the actual number of people paying the housing provident fund nationwide has reached 164 million. Counting family members, more than 200 million urban residents have been included in the financial security network to solve basic housing problems.

"While the deposit area is expanding, the structure is constantly being optimized." He further pointed out that 76.9% of the newly opened employees last year were employees of non-public units; among the existing depositors, 52.1% were employees of non-public units.

In addition, the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development has promoted the participation of flexible employees in the housing provident fund system, further expanding the benefits of the system, and stimulating the vitality of new economic entities such as individual industrial and commercial households and freelancers.

He went on to say that the Housing Provident Fund is committed to solving the basic housing problem of contributors.

The first is to support new citizens and young people in renting and housing.

Last year, 13.54 million people drew 125.9 billion yuan from the housing provident fund for rental housing.

The second is to support depositors to purchase their first and improved housing.

Last year, more than 3.1 million low-interest housing loans were issued, with an amount of nearly 1.4 trillion yuan, of which 85.8% were first-time housing loans and 75.9% were loans for employees under the age of 40.

The third is to give preferential policy support to specific groups in need.

For example, residents of old communities are supported to withdraw housing provident funds to transform their own housing.

Recently, in cooperation with relevant departments, a policy to support the housing consumption of families with many children has been introduced.

"The phased support policy will be coordinated with the above measures and comprehensively implemented to ensure the basic housing needs of depositors, help depositors reduce their housing burden, promote stable living and stable business, and play a positive role in stabilizing the overall economic situation." Wang Xudong said.
