The new "National Highway Network Planning" proposes that by 2035, the total scale of China's national road network will be about 461,000 kilometers, of which about 162,000 kilometers of national highways and 299,000 kilometers of ordinary national roads.
Wang Songbo emphasized that after the completion of the road network, there are mainly five "mores".
First, the service is more convenient.
All counties and cities in the country will be connected to ordinary national highways within 15 minutes, and prefecture-level administrative centers and cities and counties with a population of more than 100,000 will be connected to national expressways within 30 minutes.
Second, the spatial connection is more efficient.
It will form a multi-center networked road grid with "multi-center radiation" of urban agglomerations, "multi-channel connectivity" between districts, provinces, and inter-groups, and "multi-line complementarity" of important channels.
It realizes one-day round-trip from the provincial capital in the eastern and central regions to the city, half-day round-trip from the city to the county, and the same day from the provincial capital in the western region to the city; it can meet the needs of 1-hour commuting in the national mega-city and the national central city metropolitan area.
The third is to support the new development pattern more powerfully.
The national highway will connect all border ports, counties and cities across the country, ordinary national highways will connect all border highway ports in the country, and the national highway network will fully cover the sections of the Asian Highway network.
Fourth, the security guarantee is more reliable.
The national defense security capability and road network resilience have been effectively improved. In particular, the security and reliability of key areas such as frequent natural disasters, natural geographical barriers, and borders will be significantly enhanced, greatly improving the ability to respond to natural disasters and social emergencies.
Fifth, the connection and integration are smoother.
The national highway network comprehensively covers 5A-level scenic spots, national-level scenic spots, world cultural and natural heritage (protected areas), and strengthens the supporting and driving role of road traffic in the development of the tourism industry; it connects all important transportation hubs in the country, including 74 Important ports, 106 railway hubs, and 453 civil aviation transport airports effectively support the construction of the "Global 123 Express Cargo Circle".
