China News Service, Taiyuan, July 21 (Reporter Li Xinsuo Yang Jieying) Data released by the Shanxi Provincial Bureau of Statistics on the 20th showed that in the first half of the year, Shanxi's GDP increased by 5.2% year-on-year, 2.7 percentage points faster than the national level, ranking second in the country.

The Shanxi Provincial Bureau of Statistics and the Shanxi Survey Team of the National Bureau of Statistics of China jointly released the economic performance in the first half of the year on the 20th.

In the first half of the year, especially in the second quarter, due to the impact of the new crown pneumonia epidemic and the external environment, the downward pressure on Shanxi's economy has increased significantly.

However, with the implementation of a package of policies to stabilize the economy at the national and Shanxi levels, major economic indicators have shown a gradual positive development trend.

According to Wei Yongjie, deputy director and spokesman of the Shanxi Provincial Bureau of Statistics, in June, Shanxi's industrial, consumption, raw coal production, power generation, electricity consumption, freight volume and other indicators were better than those in April and May.

Data show that in the first half of the year, the added value of Shanxi's industries above designated size (referred to as "designated industries") increased by 11.0%, 7.6 percentage points faster than the national level, ranking fourth in the country.

From the perspective of coal and non-coal, the coal industry increased by 11.2%, and the non-coal industry increased by 10.9%.

In the first half of the year, Shanxi's summer grain harvested a bumper crop, and the unit yield hit a record high again.

The sown area of summer grain in Shanxi was 8.026 million mu, a decrease of 0.3% over the previous year; the total output of summer grain was 2.452 million tons, an increase of 0.8%; the yield of summer grain per mu was 305.5 kg, an increase of 1.1%, a record high.

Since the "power shortage" occurred in many places in China in the second half of last year, Shanxi, a major energy province, has played a prominent role in ensuring supply.

In the meantime, Shanxi also regards coal and other traditional advantageous industries as economic underpinnings.

Wei Yongjie introduced that Shanxi Energy has achieved remarkable results in increasing production and ensuring supply.

In the first half of the year, Shanxi's regulated raw coal output increased by 10.1% to 641.393 million tons; unconventional natural gas output increased by 20.3% and power generation increased by 5.4%.

While stabilizing the energy economy, Shanxi is also working hard to cultivate emerging industries.

Wei Yongjie said that in the first half of the year, the added value of manufacturing increased by 12.4% in Shanxi's designated industries.

Among them, the automobile manufacturing industry increased by 28.0%, the food industry increased by 20.1%, and the industrial strategic emerging industries increased by 20.6%, which were significantly faster than the growth rate of the province's designated industries.

At the same time, Shanxi's corporate profits rose significantly and fiscal revenue grew rapidly.

Data show that from January to May, Shanxi's industrial enterprises above designated size achieved a profit of 182.81 billion yuan, an increase of 87.7%; and an operating income of 1,565.95 billion yuan, an increase of 42.6%.

Shanxi's designated service enterprises achieved operating income of 159.81 billion yuan, an increase of 16.3%.

In the first half of the year, Shanxi's general public budget revenue was 182.29 billion yuan, an increase of 28.6%, ranking second in the country in terms of growth rate.
