The Hyundais stamped "N" are remarkable bombs, which can really claim the qualifier "sporty".

Building on already more than honorable success for its Ioniq electric cars, in particular the Ioniq 5, the manufacturer has decided to take the next step, injecting even more emotion and passion into the world of electromobility.

This is evidenced by two concepts that did not fail to interest us.

RN22e

First of all, there is the RN22e, which is none other than an over-boosted version of the Ioniq 6, presented last week and which will arrive in dealerships before the end of the year.

Sleek and aerodynamic, the model is indeed a good starting point for a sports car.

Hyundai announces a total power of 585 hp and a torque of 740 Nm, as well as more than 250 km / h at peak.

But power is not the only argument of a sports car, we also learn that the weight is significantly reduced compared to that of the Ioniq 6, thanks to many parts made in 3D printing.

And for the fun touch, the manufacturer says it has developed a frankly evocative sound, and integrated into the car a function which simulates the jolts of gear changes during acceleration.

N Vision 74

But us, it is rather for this one that we fell in love.

First, because its look is directly inspired by the 1974 Hyundai Pony Coupé, whose design was signed by the Italian Master Giugiaro.

We find the reinterpretation of this design frankly successful.

And beyond aesthetics, there is technique.

Because while the RN22e is a classic battery electric, the N Vision 74 is the first to take another technology towards sportiness: the fuel cell.

This is indeed a "hydrogen" electric car, an expensive solution for Hyundai, and often presented as more viable than simple batteries, due to the ease of refueling.

With its 62.4 kWh battery, its 85 kW fuel cell and 4.2 kg hydrogen tanks, the N Vision 74 boasts some nice figures: 680 hp, 900 Nm, 250 km/h peak, and 600 km range.

At present, these two vehicles are mainly rolling laboratories.

And if we imagine that an Ioniq 6 N will be marketed one day, it is unfortunately less sure for the "modern Pony".

Anyway, the first sporty electric Hyundai is scheduled for 2023: it will be the Ioniq 5 N.
