It will have taken a war… All the major retail brands agreed on Monday on a common “energy sobriety” plan which will be applied from October 15th.

On the program: Extinction of signs as soon as closing time, drop in temperature, or even reduction of lighting.

These measures have been defined by the Perifem federation, which brings together all the distribution players to act on energy or environmental issues.

This "crisis energy protocol" will apply as much in the E.Leclerc, as the Picard via Carrefour or Casino.

The federation justifies this decision "Faced with the risk of possible shortages of electricity supply announced by the government for this winter".

In detail, the protocol will consist in “turning off the illuminated signs as soon as the store closes”, but also in “systematizing the reduction in light intensity”.

The protocol provides in particular for reducing the lighting of the sales area by 30% during critical consumption periods.

Other measures for more sober energy management are also planned “such as cutting off air renewal at night or delaying ice production”.
