Panasonic Holdings has announced plans to build a new plant in Kansas, the Midwestern United States, to produce new batteries for EVs = electric vehicles.

We would like to accelerate the supply to American EV maker Tesla.

According to the announcement, it will produce a large-capacity lithium-ion battery that greatly extends the cruising range of EVs, and will utilize subsidies from the local state government to construct the plant, including the introduction of production equipment, 4 billion. We plan to make a huge investment of over 500 billion yen in dollars and Japanese yen.



Tesla, the world's largest EV manufacturer, has completed a new factory in Texas, and Panasonic wants to accelerate the supply to Tesla by building a battery factory near Texas.



The company hastened to establish methods for controlling costs and mass production technology at its factory in Wakayama Prefecture, and will make the final investment decision regarding the construction of a new factory in the United States.



Regarding EV batteries, Chinese and South Korean manufacturers are increasing their global market share, and Panasonic will focus on increasing its competitiveness by deepening collaboration with Tesla.
