"Sphinx Air" .. Egypt launches a tourist airline with "competitive prices"

Egypt is preparing to launch a low-cost airline, called "Sphinx Air", and it is scheduled to start operating in the winter of 2022-2023 from Hurghada, Sharm El-Sheikh and Luxor airports, and its flights are likely to include Russia.

The main objective of launching the project is to increase the number of tourists. Low-cost Sphinx Air flights will fly from Cairo, Hurghada, Sharm El-Sheikh and Luxor, and the main airport will be the Sphinx International Airport in Giza.

According to preliminary information, two Boeing 737-800 aircraft will enter service for the Sphinx fleet in the first phase, and up to 15 flights per week are planned to transport tourists from other Egyptian cities to Giza.

In the limited transport conditions next winter, the airline may also start operating flights from Russia, and aviation experts estimate that ticket prices will be 25-30% lower than EgyptAir's prices, according to reports by the Russian tourist site A-Tour.

On July 3, the Egyptian Embassy in Russia announced that EgyptAir had decided to increase the number of its flights between Moscow and Cairo.

In a statement, the embassy said that "EgyptAir" had announced the operation of additional flights during the summer season.

She added that the additional flights will start from Thursday, July 7, 2022, until the end of October 2022.

She explained that this will be on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays of every week.
