The law on purchasing power is presented Thursday in the Council of Ministers.

One of the long-awaited measures is that concerning aid for motorists who are obliged to use their car to go to work, regardless of the number of kilometers traveled, but subject to resource conditions.

This Thursday will be presented to the Council of Ministers the famous law on purchasing power, with a little more detail no doubt on the measures that will be proposed to parliament on July 18 to try to preserve the purchasing power of the French while inflation is approaching 6%.

One of the long-awaited measures is that concerning assistance to motorists who are forced to use their car to go to work, and we are beginning to know a little more about this device.

Means-tested

What we do know is that it will be paid to all those who use their car to go to work, regardless of the number of kilometers traveled, but subject to means testing.

But up to what amount of salary?

The question will be submitted to parliamentary debate, but according to the Minister of the Economy Bruno Le Maire, it should be around 1,600 or 1,800 euros.

There will also be a bonus, a higher bonus for heavy riders, those who travel more than 12,000 kilometers per year, but always subject to income conditions.

Not automatic help

This aid will not be paid automatically, too complicated to target the right people.

It will therefore be necessary to apply for it to be entitled to it.

Faced with potential fraud, the government has already planned to cross-reference the files of new registrations, to verify that people have a car, with the income statements of the General Directorate of Public Finance to control resources.
