Under the agreements, the two sides will launch a partnership for logistics and land freight, covering the fields of multimodal freight, land and air transport services, and rail services, the development of internal ports, container warehouses, the construction of infrastructure for logistics and warehousing services, outsourcing of logistics services, and customs clearance.

A preliminary agreement was also signed to support the development of an integrated food storage and distribution center, to improve Uzbekistan's capabilities in the field of food trade on world markets and to enhance food security in Central Asia.

The two sides are cooperating, under the initial agreement, to take advantage of the common opportunities available in the areas of food storage and transportation, ensuring food security, as well as exploring integrated solutions that can be employed in the project.

Minister of State for Foreign Trade, Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, said that the volume of trade exchange between the UAE and Uzbekistan has grown by 22% to reach $486 million during the past year.

He added that the Abu Dhabi Ports Group's signing of two strategic agreements to establish a logistics center, shipping services and a food trade center in Uzbekistan, comes within the framework of the leadership's directives aimed at diversifying our economic relationship and working to find new markets for national products.

He pointed out that Uzbekistan is one of the important food exporting countries, especially to Asian and Central Asian countries, and through this strategic project, it will provide an opportunity to redirect a large part of the food products available in Uzbekistan to the UAE and the region.
