If vacations often rhyme with pleasure, it can happen that health glitches quite spoil the postcard!

But when you are staying abroad, you have to make do with the means at hand to obtain the necessary treatments in pharmacies… even if it means consulting a local doctor if necessary.

So many costs that add a little more to the holiday bill.

As soon as you travel to the countries of the European Economic Area (EEA) and to Switzerland, remember first of all to bring your European health insurance card (EHIC) which will allow you simplified access to care.

Free, it must be requested less than 20 days before your departure and is valid for 2 years, after which you will have to request its renewal.

With or without EHIC and regardless of the country of destination of your stay, know that you can nevertheless obtain reimbursement for your care by the French Social Security!

To do this, you just need to have an Internet connection on site or wait until you return home to complete the process from your Ameli account.

From the “My procedures” section, select “Reimbursement of treatment abroad” and fill in the required information (identity, nature of treatment provided, amount, dates of stay, reason for travel).

You will, of course, have to provide the necessary supporting documents such as proof of payment, paid invoices and any medical prescriptions.

Our "HEALTH INSURANCE" file

You will receive an answer within a few weeks, as well as a notification on your personal space in the event of refusal of support.

And if you are not a fan of online procedures, know that you can use the Cerfa form n ° 12267 (to be collected at the CPAM counter or to download) to request reimbursement by post.
