Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) announced that the total energy production capacity has reached 14,117 megawatts, after adding 700 megawatts, including 600 megawatts from the Hassyan Energy Production Complex, which runs on natural gas, and 100 megawatts from photovoltaic solar panels, within the phase. The fifth of the "Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park", which is implemented by the authority, is the largest solar energy complex in one location in the world with an independent power producer system, and its production capacity will reach 5,000 megawatts by 2030.

The authority stated that with the addition of 100 megawatts of the fifth phase, which will have a production capacity of 900 megawatts using photovoltaic solar panels when completed, the current production capacity of the "Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Complex" will reach 1,627 megawatts using photovoltaic solar panels.

The authority pointed out that it is implementing other projects in the complex with a total of 1,233 megawatts, using the "photovoltaic solar panels" and "concentrated solar energy" technologies.

advanced structure

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, said: "We are working within the framework of the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to provide advanced infrastructure that contributes to the consolidation of Dubai's position as a preferred destination for living. Work, invest, visit, and meet the increasing demand for electricity and water services in accordance with the highest standards of availability, reliability, efficiency and quality.

He added: "DEWA has developed plans to expand energy and water infrastructure, based on demand forecasts until 2031. We will continue to work on implementing pioneering projects to diversify energy production sources, including the various clean and renewable energy sources and technologies available in Dubai, to achieve the leadership's vision for a brighter and more sustainable future for our future generations. ».

clean energy

Al Tayer revealed that "the production capacity of clean energy within Dubai's energy mix is 11.5%, and it is expected to reach 14% at the end of this year, within the framework of the (Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050) and (Carbon Neutrality Strategy 2050 for the Emirate of Dubai), to provide 100% of energy production capacity will come from clean energy sources by 2050.”

"Hassian Complex"

It is noteworthy that the current production capacity of the Hassyan Energy Production Complex, which operates on natural gas, is 1,800 MW with the independent product system, and another 600 MW will be added during the next year, bringing the production capacity of the complex to 2,400 MW.

The Hassyan Complex for energy production is added to the complex of Jebel Ali power and water desalination plants, which is one of the main pillars for providing the Emirate of Dubai with reliable, efficient and high-quality electricity and water services, with a total production capacity of 9,547 megawatts of electricity.
