The number of new cars sold in Japan in the first half of this year was more than 2 million, a decrease of 15% compared to the same period last year, the lowest in the last 10 years.

Due to the shortage of semiconductors and the impact of the new Corona, parts procurement has been delayed, and automakers have been forced to reduce production, which has greatly affected sales.

According to the announcement by the Japan Automobile Dealers Association and others, the number of new cars sold in Japan in the first half of January to June was 2,086,178 units, which is 15% less than the same period last year.

Of these, ordinary cars, trucks, buses, etc. were more than 1.28 million, and light cars were more than 800,000, both of which decreased by 15%, the lowest number in the past 10 years.

In addition to the global shortage of semiconductors, the procurement of parts from business partners was delayed due to restrictions on going out in Shanghai, China due to the spread of the new corona infection, and the production was forced to be reduced due to the suspension of factory operations. Is the main factor.

With some manufacturers revealing the prospect of production cuts in July, the normalization of production is still uncertain, and the delivery date of new cars continues to be delayed at the sales floor.

An industry group said, "Even after the lockdown in Shanghai was released, the shortage of parts has not been resolved yet, and it is not possible to predict how long the impact will continue, including the shortage of semiconductors."
