• Hard blow for Strasbourg and Alsace: Adidas will leave its headquarters in Strasbourg and consolidate its activities in Paris by September 2024.

  • Nearly 150 employees are affected and, even if teleworking will be widely offered, many are opposed to this departure.

  • "This announcement is hard for us, it's a lot of emotion," reacted one of them.

More than a name, a symbol.

Anchored in Alsace since 1959, Adidas France announced Thursday to the 140 employees of its headquarters in Strasbourg the consolidation of all its office activities in Paris by September 2024. A decision denounced by staff and elected officials.

"Adidas France today shared with all of its employees the project to regroup, by 2024, teams on a new single site, dedicated to employees, customers and partners, in Paris", writes the company in a press release, stating that the reflection had been initiated in April.

That is about four years after having inaugurated its new head office with great fanfare, in 2018, in the Wacken business district, in Strasbourg, at the foot of the European Parliament.

Employees wishing to stay in Alsace will be offered a telework scheme, with three to eight days per month of presence in Paris depending on the positions occupied.

“Our goal is to allow employees in Strasbourg to continue their career at Adidas while strengthening our corporate culture with a single site dedicated to everyone,” says Mathieu Sidokpohou, General Manager Southern Europe.

This evokes an “unprecedented flexibility in terms of teleworking”.

“Many employees want a way out”

“This announcement is hard for us, it's a lot of emotion, there is solidarity between colleagues, many have seniority.

Adidas is normalizing…”, reacted an employee, employee of the brand for fifteen years, who wished to remain anonymous.

“They proposed a lot of telework, but without a local solution: you go X days a month to Paris, but the rest of the time you are alone at home, without your colleagues… Many employees do not enter into this logic and want an exit door.
