An electric plane soon to be used in Brest for zero carbon flights

The Brest flying club (Finistère) is preparing to set up a zero-carbon airline between the continent and the island of Ouessant.

The flying club already has an electric plane, the Pipistrel Velis Electro.

It is the only aircraft with rechargeable batteries certified for worldwide flights.

But the two-seater does not allow you to fill a line.

It is made available for driving lessons or baptisms.

Low-volume transport

However, this Pipistrel could make it possible to carry out small transport on the island such as blood tests or medicines.

But for this, a charging station must be installed on Ouessant.

Which should be done this summer.

By 2023 or 2024, the connection could be provided by a Cessna Caravan operated by Finistair.

Do the regulations still have to allow it?
