From September, local health insurance premiums will be reduced by an average of 36,000 won per month.

This is in accordance with the government's second-stage reform of health insurance premiums, and it is expected that about 9.92 million people will benefit as the standards for property and automobiles are relaxed.

total number of health insurance subscribers in Korea is 51.41 million.



Employers, who account for 38% of the total, have inherited health insurance premiums based on the premium rate only on their income.



On the other hand, local subscribers, who account for 27%, pay premiums not only on income but also on property and automobiles by grade.



Because the method was different, the issue of equity arose, and the ruling and opposition parties reached an agreement five years ago to reduce the burden on local subscribers.



First of all, starting in September, 50 million won will be deducted based on the property insurance premium.



If you own a house with an official price of 250 million won, the property tax is 150 million won, but you only have to pay insurance for 100 million won minus 50 million won.



37% of local residents who pay property insurance premiums will be exempted from property insurance premiums in the future.



The standard for car insurance premiums will also change to more than 40 million won in the value of the vehicle.



The number of vehicles subject to insurance premiums will be drastically reduced from 1.79 million to 120,000.



In the future, a flat rate system in which income is multiplied by a set premium rate and 6.99% as of this year will be applied to local subscribers as in the case of workplace subscribers.



Residential households with an annual income of 38.6 million won or less will have a lower income insurance premium burden.

In some cases, you may have to pay an additional premium.



If the employee earns more than 20 million won per year in addition to the monthly salary, he/she will pay an average of 51,000 won more per month.



About 270,000 dependents whose taxable income exceeds 20 million won a year will also pay insurance premiums.
