Faced with soaring fuel prices, the Minister of the Economy, Bruno Le Maire, will ask TotalEnergies to extend its fuel discount of 10 cents per litre, set up in addition to that of 18 cents applied by the State. .

This device aims to fight against inflation.

The government will ask TotalEnergies to make an additional effort so that it extends or increases the fuel discount of 10 cents per liter that it had put in place in addition to that of 18 cents applied by the State, indicated on Monday the Minister of Economy Bruno Le Maire at the microphone of RMC/BFMTV: "I am going to ask the boss of TotalEnergies Patrick Pouyanné to make an effort again because the price of

fuel remains very high". The minister specified that he must meet the CEO of the oil giant on Monday morning.

"All the effort cannot rest solely on the State", added the minister, when the executive is finalizing its bill on purchasing power and an amending budget which provide for several measures, including the extension in August of the fuel discount of 18 cents introduced on 1 April.

At the same time, the government is considering a new device that is more targeted at large riders to take over from this aid.

TotalEnergies had first applied a discount of 10 cents per liter in its service stations in rural areas last February, before extending it to all its stations on April 1.
