Beer giant Sapporo Holdings has announced that it will acquire an American beer maker.

As the domestic beer market shrinks, we aim to expand sales in the United States and strengthen our overseas business.

According to the announcement, the craft beer maker "Stone Brewing" headquartered in California, USA will be acquired for 165 million dollars, about 22 billion yen in Japanese yen, and made into a subsidiary.

With this acquisition, brands such as beer owned by American manufacturers and two production bases in the United States will be under the umbrella.

The company is developing its own brand products in the United States as one of the pillars of its overseas business, but by utilizing the production bases that it has acquired this time, it is currently supplying from factories in Canada and Vietnam. We want to reduce the distribution cost of products, increase the supply capacity, and further expand sales in North America.

Kirin Holdings, a major beer company, has acquired a craft beer maker in Michigan, USA, and as the domestic beer market shrinks, there are a series of moves to strengthen its North American business.
