Oppo: The UAE leads the region in the growth of smartphone sales in the first quarter

The Director of Strategy and Planning at OPPO Middle East Technology Solutions and Smartphone Technology said that the UAE topped the Middle East markets in the growth of smartphone sales during the first quarter of 2022, according to data from Canalys for international research and analysis.

He pointed out in a press interview held by the company in Dubai, that according to market data monitored by the institution’s study, the Middle East region witnessed during the first quarter slight growth rates or decline in some markets for sales of smart phones, while the UAE market occupied the first place regionally in sales growth rates compared to the fourth quarter of last year.

He explained that the UAE recorded a growth of more than 8% in the smart phone sales sector, supported by the flow of supply chains in the country compared to many countries in the region, and the countries of the world whose supply operations were affected, in addition to the increase in sales of tourist groups and the positive effects of Expo 2020 Dubai during That period.

He stressed that the UAE market continued, during the first quarter of 2022, to record indicators of recovery in the purchasing power of smart phones, pointing to indicators of stagnation in a number of European and global markets.

He expected that the UAE market would conclude the second quarter of this year with growth rates close to sales in the first quarter, pointing out that most smartphone trading companies, after the height of the "Covid 19" pandemic, became more focused and interested in distribution channels through e-commerce platforms compared to traditional stores.

He pointed out that “OPPO” recently launched the versions of the “Find X5” phone that come with fifth generation technologies, supported by artificial intelligence systems, with a new technology that raises the average phone charging cycles, and their average validity, to rise to 1,600 charging cycles compared to usual rates in the markets of up to 800 Phone battery charging cycle.

He revealed that the company aims to launch a foldable smartphone during a date expected in the fourth quarter of 2022, or the first quarter of next year.
