“A total of 12 countries are affected by the reduction in Russian gas supplies ... The risk of supply disruptions today is real,” TASS quoted Timmermans as saying.

However, he did not specify in how many of these cases the reduction in fuel supplies is due to the refusal of local consumers to pay for gas in rubles.

According to him, at the moment European gas storages are filled by more than 50%.

The Russian company Gazprom previously announced a complete suspension of gas supplies to the Polish PGNiG, as the latter refused to pay for Russian gas in rubles.

German Vice Chancellor Robert Habeck said that a tense and difficult situation with gas has developed in Germany.

He attributed this to the reduction in natural gas supplies from Russia.
