China News Service, June 21 (Reuters) - The Biden administration is evaluating removing some tariffs on China and possibly suspending the federal gasoline tax to fight inflation, two senior U.S. officials said in recent days.

U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said some of the tariffs on China carried over from the Trump administration by the Biden administration “did not serve any strategic purpose and increased consumer spending.”

According to the report, Yellen said in an interview with the ABC that the U.S. government is evaluating its tariff policy on China.

But she gave no specifics and declined to say when a tariff decision might be made.
