Chongqing is one of the cities with the most super high-rise buildings in China.

Chongqing Luhai International Center is the core carrier and landmark project of Chongqing International Business District. Upon completion, it will become a new landmark in Chongqing, surpassing the height of internationally renowned super high-rise buildings such as the Petronas Twin Towers in Malaysia and Shanghai Jinmao Tower.

Huang Maojun, Mayor of Yuzhong District, Chongqing, introduced at the press conference on the major construction progress of Chongqing International Business District that the total construction area of Chongqing Luhai International Center exceeds 500,000 square meters, and it is the tallest building under construction in Chongqing and the first capped building in western China. A tall building, the height ranks among the top 20 super high-rise buildings in the world.

The business formats of Chongqing Luhai International Center include a 230,000-square-meter super-grade-A office building, a 100,000-square-meter theme shopping center and a city skyline hotel.

The theme shopping center will open for business on December 29, 2022, and has signed the first store of many brands such as Galeries Lafayette in France.

According to Chen Zhigang, the project's steel structure constructor and China Construction Steel Structure Project Manager, the total amount of steel structure used in this project is nearly 80,000 tons, mainly distributed in structural parts such as outer frame column beams, trusses, and rigid columns.

In the construction of super high-rise buildings, the structure of "bones and joints" is particularly important.

The "skeletons" from the basement to the fourth floor above the ground are 18 giant cylindrical columns, each with a diameter of 2.8 meters, which can only be hugged by at least 5 normal adults holding hands.

In order to realize the sail shape of the building facade, the number of steel columns will gradually change.

On the 19th floor, the outer frame steel columns were increased from 18 to 20.

To this end, the project introduces the split column node.

A complete split column spans 5 structural layers, and a single split column node is 17.3 meters high and weighs 330 tons.

In order to hoist it to the designated location smoothly, the construction party divided it into about 70 tons.

For efficient construction, the construction party China Construction Third Engineering Bureau installed two boom tower cranes with the largest lifting capacity in the field of housing construction in China to hoist the components. A single tower crane can lift 100 tons of heavy objects, which is equivalent to the weight of 1,430 adults.

It is worth mentioning that Hualongqiao Station of Chongqing Rail Transit Line 9 will pass through the commercial podium of Chongqing Luhai International Center, becoming the second "rail crossing building" spectacle in Chongqing after Liziba Station.

The height of the train crossing floor at Hualongqiao Station is 48 meters, and the length of the track crossing is about 145 meters, both of which exceed the Liziba Station of Chongqing Rail Transit Line 2 that crosses the residential building.
