More than half of French employees consider themselves exposed daily to at least one risk to their health, physical or mental.

This is the result of a vast survey carried out by prevention and occupational health services, published on Wednesday.

Thus, 52% of employees say they are exposed to at least one biomechanical factor, 32% to atypical working hours and 29% to chemical agents.

44% of workers “consider that they have to endure awkward postures” and 27% complain about “handling and carrying heavy loads or people”.

A difference in perception between employee and employer?

This vision is shared by employers on certain risks (biomechanical factors such as repetitive movements, night work), employees also say they are more exposed to other risks not declared by the bosses.

This concerns, for example, “ultrasound, difficulties linked to lighting, working in trenches and biological agents”.

“These differences in perception can be explained by a lack of knowledge of certain exposures or by a difficulty in identifying them, notes the survey.

This can [also] be due to a difference in perception between hardship (employee side) and regulatory aspects (employer side).

Among the positive indicators, 68% of employees say they are autonomous in their organization and 64% believe that their work allows them to develop professional skills.

Finally, 65% of employees feel recognized by their colleagues and almost half feel recognized by their superiors.
