reported on Wednesday .
"There was a technical failure at
Skyguide
, the Swiss air traffic control service, in the early hours of the morning, so Swiss airspace has been closed to traffic for security reasons," Skyguide said in a statement.
Shortly before, the Geneva
airport
had reported that takeoffs and landings were suspended until 09:00 GMT.
Skyguide has not given any details about the origin of the computer failure.

The company "regrets the incident and the consequences for its customers, partners and passengers at
Geneva
and
Zurich
airports, " says Skyguide, and assures that "it is working hard to find a solution."
The ATS-Keystone press agency indicates that several international flights to Switzerland have been
diverted to the Milan airport
in northern Italy.
