Female master studies "fresh food supply chain" only to sell white geese back home

"Hello everyone, this is our special product, Dongqiao White Goose. The breeding period is 300 days. The meat is firm and the taste is delicious..." In the goose herding cooperative in Dongqiao Town, Jin'an District, Lu'an City, Anhui Province, the post-95s The girl, Tang Cuilin, is lively selling local agricultural and sideline products.

In 2020, Tang Cuilin returned to Lu'an City after graduating from Xiamen University with a master's degree in logistics management. She started with white goose breeding and sold her hometown's native products to the whole country through e-commerce sales. She also helped more than 200 local farmers get rid of poverty and become rich.

Tang Cuilin's parents are both farmers. She started raising geese in 2000 and built a small family goose factory step by step. She has witnessed the hardships of her parents over the past 20 years in starting a business.

In recent years, under the guidance of the government, the local white goose industry has been transformed and upgraded, and the breeding volume has become larger and larger, but for some farmers, the sales channel is still a pain point.

During her undergraduate studies, when Tang Cuilin returned to her hometown every winter vacation, she could see that every household was covered with pickled salted geese, and goose farmers were worried because they could not sell geese.

Helping local people live a better life has become a concern of Tang Cuilin.

During her postgraduate studies, Tang Cuilin chose "fresh food supply chain" as her research direction. She hoped to solve the "contradictory relationship" between the supply chain and the sales side.

"Perhaps I can use the new peasant thinking to change the traditional concept and help promote the ecological products in my hometown." In October 2018, Tang Cuilin, who was in the second year of graduate school, began to study and start her own business.

At first, she opened an online store to sell Lu'an specialties, and she was busy working all by herself.

In the morning, I run the store, pack and ship in the afternoon, and in the evening I have to prepare for the next day's promotional activities. I often run back and forth between home and school.

High logistics costs, conservative prices on the supply side, and many elderly people in rural areas are illiterate... Faced with these difficulties, Tang Cuilin also has her own countermeasures.

In order to reduce logistics costs, she found a logistics company alone to discuss long-term cooperation, increase the volume of waybills, and then seize the bargaining power.

While increasing product sales, she attracts more big players and enterprises to cooperate strategically, so as to gain a price advantage.

Tang Cuilin uses the knowledge she has learned to inform the upstream supply side of market demand in a timely manner. Both parties respond to market demand, reduce information gaps, maintain product quality, and make cooperation long-term and strong.

  Good product, good sales.

In order to improve the quality and taste of local white geese, Tang Cuilin has always insisted on free-ranging rice stubble: her cooperative has abandoned the time-saving and labor-saving feed captive breeding, and let the geese be freed after hatching. While the white goose is succulent, the rice stubble field can be fully utilized for the second time.

After more than two years of exploration and study, Tang Cuilin's shop is on the right track.

She has opened up various online sales channels, and with the rise of live streaming, she has also conducted live streaming on many e-commerce platforms.

In terms of labor and employment, more than 70% of the goose-herding cooperatives are local poor people or middle-aged and elderly people.

In terms of unified purchase and sales, they will distribute 20-50 goose seedlings to poor households in local villages for free every spring, provide free technical services, and recycle them at 10% higher than the market price in autumn and winter; Tang Cuilin will also combine online and offline. , through the order model, according to the customer's order, the products such as eggs and old hens from poor households are purchased, and then processed and sent to customers.

In 2020, Tang Cuilin and her parents traveled to more than 30 professional breeding cooperatives and more than 100 poultry farming households in the town, buying a large number of chickens, ducks and geese at high prices, processing them and selling them online. In half a year, the online transaction volume reached 10.23 million Yuan, of which the sales of poverty alleviation products reached more than 5 million yuan.

Through the above measures, more than 200 local poor households have an average annual income increase of more than 6,000 yuan, achieving poverty alleviation.

At present, the e-commerce operation and service center of the Mugoose Base founded by Tang Cuilin has become a sales platform for agricultural products in more than 100 villages and towns and more than 100,000 farmers in Jin'an District, Lu'an City.
