Two officials in two outlets revealed efforts between outlets and suppliers to significantly reduce the prices of the offers.

They said that if these agreements are completed, their effects will appear on the market during the coming period.

The two officials attributed the high prices of offers to the rise in the prices of the same goods globally, stressing the keenness of outlets to offer offers that include a large number of goods, to relieve consumers.

Consumers had confirmed to "Emirates Today" that the prices of some goods in the discount offers of outlets rose during the recent period significantly, to exceed the prices at which they were sold without discounts, at rates that reached 36.4% in some of them.

She stated that the outlet offered a “reduction” on a New Zealand type of meat, bringing its price in the offer to 48 dirhams per kilogram, although its original price a short time ago was 42 dirhams, an increase of 14.3%, as its price in previous offers ranged between 35 and 37 dirhams. per kilogram.

Rising prices

For his part, an official at a sales outlet in Abu Dhabi, Masoud Anal, said that the prices of the offers have witnessed increases during the recent period, as a result of the rise in the prices of the same commodities, after international developments and the existence of difficulties and a shortage in supplies of some commodities and raw materials globally.

He stressed that outlets in general are keen to offer offers that include a large number of goods, to relieve consumers.

He explained that the lack of offers on a large number of commodities would have added new and greater burdens to consumers, after the global price hike.

An official at another outlet, Idris Ibrahim, agreed that the increase in the prices of the offers was due to the increase in the prices of the same goods.

He revealed that sales outlets are seeking, in agreement with suppliers, to significantly reduce bid prices, indicating that if these agreements are completed, their effects will appear on the market during the coming period.

Nagpal: Buying Necessary Goods

Retail expert Davey Nagpal called on consumers to focus on buying essential and indispensable commodities during the current period.

He said that some consumers were buying goods just because there were discounts on them, pointing out that this behavior costs consumers money they need to spend on other aspects that are currently important.

Nagbal stressed the importance of intensifying supervision over the markets, and increasing the number of inspectors working in this field, to control the markets and take the necessary measures against violators.
