In anticipation of the large amount of hydrogen needed in the decarbonization era, we will start procuring hydrogen from UAE = United Arab Emirates.

On the 7th, President Takeshi Saito of ENEOS, President Kenichi Hori of Mitsui & Co., and executives of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company signed an agreement in Tokyo with the support of the Japanese government and agreed to cooperate in the hydrogen procurement business. did.



Hydrogen, which is expected as next-generation energy, has various manufacturing methods, but it can be made by extracting it from natural gas.



In anticipation of the large amount of hydrogen required in Japan during the decarbonization era, ENEOS and Mitsui will start procuring from the UAE, which is rich in natural gas.



Specifically, we will produce hydrogen from natural gas locally, liquefy it with a special technology, and then ship it to Japan.



In addition, we plan to collect carbon dioxide generated during the manufacturing process and bury it underground to eliminate emissions as a whole.



Both companies are aiming to procure tens of thousands of tons of hydrogen annually in the future, and would like to hurry to secure a supply network by strengthening cooperation with the UAE, which is a resource-rich country.
