As a countermeasure against the new coronavirus, Hitachi has reviewed the standards for wearing masks in offices and factories established by the group, and after continuing basic measures, there is no conversation and it is possible to keep a distance from the people around. Has changed to the rule that you do not have to wear a mask.

Hitachi has set a standard for over 150,000 employees, including domestic group companies, to recommend wearing masks from the spring as a countermeasure against the new corona.

However, before the full-scale summer, we considered measures against heat stroke in the field such as factories, and the government showed the idea of wearing masks, so we reviewed the standards within the group on May 27.

The new standard states that you do not need to wear a mask if you have no conversation in an office or factory, indoors or outdoors, and you can keep a distance of 2 meters or more from the people around you.

It has been three days and a week since the revision of the standards, and at the head office in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, we saw employees removing their masks and working toward their computers.

On the other hand, when talking indoors at a short distance, it is strongly recommended to wear a mask, and infection prevention measures such as room ventilation and temperature measurement will be continued.

Kazuo Yamauchi, general manager of the Human Resources and Labor Division of Hitachi, Ltd., said, "There are opinions from employees that it was an opportunity to think about how to decide when to remove the mask and when to put it on."
