dnata, the global provider of aviation and travel services, has announced that it will invest $100 million (367 million dirhams) in environmentally friendly operations over the next two years, to enhance environmental efficiency across its global network.

And it stated in a statement that continued investments in infrastructure, equipment and process improvement, will support the company's efforts to reduce carbon emissions by 20% by 2024, and by 50% by 2030.

In the past few years, dnata has invested in advanced technologies to optimize resources and improve operational efficiency across its facilities, and has installed renewable energy supplies such as solar panels and heat recovery units, and electric vehicle charging at its facilities in the UK, Singapore and Ireland.

dnata confirmed that green options are a major consideration in planning its fleet, as it has increased its investments in ground support equipment and forklifts, as well as renewed equipment operating with modern technologies to reduce emissions.

As a result, dnata became the first ground handling service provider to successfully complete green operations to service aircraft with zero-emissions equipment in the UAE and the United States.

dnata Catering Services has invested in improving operations to reduce its environmental impact, and has taken initiatives across all its divisions to reduce water consumption and recycle materials such as paper, plastic, cardboard, wood, glass, metal, cooking oils and mineral oils.

The company announced its commitment this year to reduce its waste by 20% by 2024.

In turn, dnata Travel Group in the United Kingdom has invested in green technologies and adopted new practices to improve environmental efficiency, as it stopped single-use plastic tools, reduced paper consumption by four million pages per year, and implemented a “zero to landfill” policy.

It has also replaced 80% of its fleet with electric or hybrid vehicles, with the aim of operating a fully eco-friendly fleet by 2024.

dnata pointed out that it engages its employees through the social responsibility program, noting its cooperation last May with hundreds of its employees around the world who participated in the “dnata cleans the world” initiative, and its volunteers cleaned beaches, rivers, canals and parks in dozens of countries.
