The transit of live birds through the territory of Russia is also limited.

As explained in the department, the decision was made due to another outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza in the United States.

“The United States is experiencing the largest outbreak in seven years.

The virus has wiped out about 40 million chickens and turkeys on commercial poultry farms.

In 2022, the country has officially confirmed 217 outbreaks of avian influenza at agricultural enterprises in 26 states,” Rosselkhoznadzor said.

In total, at the moment, the export of poultry products to Russia is limited from 27 states.

On May 16, Rosselkhoznadzor restricted the supply of poultry products to Russia from a number of regions of the United States and Canada due to bird flu.

At the same time, from March 5, Rosselkhoznadzor resumed the import of regulated products from six countries into Russia - from Bosnia and Herzegovina, China, Moldova, Serbia, Bangladesh and Azerbaijan.
