OAG stated that airlines in the Middle East region will occupy about four million seats this week, with a growth rate of 1.3 percent compared to the previous week, pointing out that the UAE market accounts for about 28 percent of the total capacity occupied by airlines. in the region as a whole.

Globally, the Corporation said that the capabilities of global airlines continue to recover with the increase in seat capacity this week to 91.2 million seats, an increase of about 2.4% compared to last week, or an average of 2.1 million additional seats, which is the highest weekly capacity recorded since before the pandemic.

She explained that the bulk of this additional capacity came from the European market, with the high demand for leisure travel across the region, coinciding with the summer season.

She stated that given the planned capacity for the summer season, airlines still expect a steady increase to reach 2019 levels by next August.

And she continued, "Although several regions in Asia have reopened their doors, as well as Japan's plans to cautiously reopen this summer, there are several variables to predict the full recovery of global tanker capacity by August 2022."
