Recently, Mr. Wang, a consumer, reported to the Pengpai Quality Report Complaint Platform that when he was shopping on the e-commerce platform, he accidentally found a business selling pornographic images.

Mr. Wang reported this matter to the platform through online customer service many times, but to no avail.

In this regard, the relevant person in charge of the platform responded to The Paper, saying that it has been investigated and dealt with, and merchants are resolutely not allowed to engage in illegal acts on the platform.

The Paper's investigation found that many online shopping platforms are selling pornographic images.

Merchants publicly sell pornographic images under the banner of "music" and "photography"

Mr. Wang said that when he was shopping on the Pinduoduo platform in May this year, he accidentally discovered that some merchants were selling products such as star photos, car music, and movie videos. suspected.

Out of curiosity, Mr. Wang clicked on the links to these items.

The relevant pictures provided by Mr. Wang show that these products under the banner of "music, photo, video" often have more exposed and sexually suggestive page promotion pictures.

Mr. Wang contacted these merchants through private chat on the platform to ask for product details, and some merchants indirectly admitted that these products were pornographic images.

The chat records provided by Mr. Wang showed that these merchants admitted that the products they sold were indeed pornographic images, and said that they would match the content for consumers with a capacity of 64G, which was stored in a USB flash drive and sold in the form of a USB flash drive.

Later, Mr. Wang asked the merchant if there was an image of a pornographic actor, and the merchant said it could be provided.

Subsequently, Mr. Wang contacted Pinduoduo online customer service to report the incident, and the platform said that it would severely crack down on the phenomenon of merchants selling contraband.

But things were ultimately not dealt with effectively.

Mr. Wang said that there are many merchants selling pornographic images on the Pinduoduo platform. "These merchants sell a lot of pornographic images, which is a serious illegal act. If children accidentally buy these prohibited goods, it will cause great harm. We hope to expose this phenomenon and crack down on these unscrupulous businesses.”

Pornographic images are sold on multiple platforms, and employees say it is difficult to monitor

Peng Mei News contacted the Pinduoduo platform. The relevant person in charge said that the platform has already checked and dealt with the relevant merchants’ products. Pinduoduo firmly does not allow merchants to sell prohibited products on the platform.

The Paper's investigation found that the Taobao platform also sells pornographic images, and some businesses even sell prohibited products under the name of "learning materials".

There are all kinds of pornographic products sold, not only pornographic images but also pornographic apps.

The Paper reporter privately chatted with one of the businesses selling pornographic apps.

The merchant said that it is free to provide the App download address, but it needs to open a membership, and you need to pay a membership fee of 23 yuan per month, or you can spend 108 yuan to buy a permanent membership.

There are also some businesses that can provide permanent free pornography apps.

The reporter found through chatting with relevant merchants that they are very vigilant and often do not communicate product details with consumers on the platform, but sell obscene items by adding WeChat private chats. Merchants communicate with consumers on Taobao platform. The private chat information will be withdrawn immediately after confirming that the other party sees it.

A staff member of the online shopping platform who did not want to be named told The Paper that there are so many merchants on the major online shopping platforms at present, and it is inevitable that there will be some fish that slip through the net.

These merchants are good at disguising, and the product titles are very obscure. Without careful investigation, it is difficult to tell that they are selling prohibited products.

However, the staff member also told The Paper that at present, major online shopping platforms are cracking down on the sale of prohibited goods such as obscene items.
