A national strike was organized Tuesday at Marionnaud, the employees mobilizing to demand an increase in wages and to denounce poor working conditions, as in Paris where they were more than a hundred in front of the headquarters of the distributor of beauty products, a found AFP.

“Our wages are miserable!

In response to the appeal launched by all the unions of Marionnaud (Unsa, CFDT, CGT, CFE-CGC), a large majority of women demonstrated in the morning in front of the Parisian headquarters of the perfumer.

According to Marilyn Gentil, CGT union representative, "40% of the stores" were to be closed today.

The trade unionist, however, deplores the "pressure" exerted on employees by management.

The strike movement also affected the areas of Marseille, Toulouse, Strasbourg and Lyon, where 90 people demonstrated in the streets with 30 stores closed in the city and its region.

Unions say working conditions are "deteriorating"

With inflation "everything increases, but the salaries remain the same", regrets Lucila Valentin, 58, store manager and employee at Marionnaud for 24 years.

Christelle Laumé, CFE-CGC union delegate, underlines that there has been "no general increase in wages since 2014" and deplores "loyal employees tired" by "deteriorating working conditions" and a "lack of staff” in store.

“Cleaning lady, marketing, handling… We have all the hats”, exasperated Lucila Valentin while a sign “Tired of being Cinderella” was brandished behind her.

The unions also denounce “surveillance, pressure, harassment in stores and at headquarters (which) lead to burnouts, work stoppages, resignations…”, is it written in a leaflet consulted by AFP.

A gross increase of five euros for employees with the proposed Smic

In France, the Marionnaud perfumery chain employs 2,900 people and has more than 420 points of sale in the territory.

"The cup is full," says Florence Bourg, Unsa union representative.

“There is no social dialogue, no recognition of seniority and expertise” of employees, she denounces.

A gross increase of five euros for the 1,225 employees at the minimum wage has already been proposed by management, a "derisory" amount for Florence Bourg.

At the end of the morning, the unions met with the management, which “undertook to make new proposals at the next meeting” with the union representatives on June 1, according to Florence Bourg.

Asked by AFP, Marionnaud's management did not react.
