The Central Bank of Egypt raises key interest rates to 11.25%

Bloomberg News Agency reported that the Central Bank of Egypt decided today, Thursday, to raise interest rates on deposits by 200 basis points (two percentage points) to reach 25.11%.

5 of 9 analysts polled by Bloomberg had expected an increase in key interest rates by 1 percentage point to 25.10%.

The Bank's Monetary Policy Committee also decided to increase the interest rate on lending by two percentage points, from 25.10% to 25.12%.
